Case Description
Hello,

My son is 11 1/2. All his permanent teeth came out with the exception of the both top "I" teeth. Do we need to wait until these teeth come out as well before we can start the Phase II braces?

Thank you! Gina

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

I would see an orthodontist for an evaluation. His "I" teeth or canines may be impacted or obstructed. Only an x-ray will show if it is or not. It wouldn''''t hurt to get an opinion from an orthodontist.

Usual age for eruption of canine teeth is about age 11. sometimes these teeth become impacted for different reasons. A panoramic xray would help deciding if they will erupt or orthodonic + surgical intervention is needed. please call us for evaluation. 310-276-1155

Hello,

At Dr. Mark Deukmedjian''''s office, every patient receives a complimentary evaluation that will address timing of treatment. There are situations where starting before all of the "baby" teeth are gone is appropriate, but most of the time waiting for all the "baby" teeth to fall out does not lead to many problems.

If you would like to schedule a complimentary evaluation please don''''t hesitate to call us at (818) 360-3636.

Thank you and have a great day!
