Case Description
I have been having Crowns placed by my dentist. The cost seems high. Abut Porc Hi Nob #2 - 1,395.00, Pont-Porc Hi Nob #3 1,395.00, Abut Porc Hi Nob #4-1,395.00, Crown - Prc Hi Nob #14 - 1395.00, Abut Porc Hi Nob #18 - 1395.00 Pont-Porc Hi Nob 19 - 1395.00, Aubt Porc Hi Nob 20 - 1395.00, Crown -Prc Hi Nob #31 - 1395.00 - I have Aetna DMO and after their percentage I end up paying over 800.00 my portion! This isn't counting #15 that need a root canal re-done, bone lengthening and a crown. I have already had 1 crown and 1 bridge partially done. Waiting on the permanent teeth. I would hate to have to put more money out if this is overcharging.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

This seems to be a fee that is reasonable assuming that your dentist uses a high quality lab. This is an area of concern that has cropped up as many of the crowns wind up being made in China where one never knows what one is getting. Ask more about your dentist''''s lab and you should also get a certificate for the materials the lab uses. Most good labs are supplying this anyway.
