When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

We do not place silver fillings in teeth at our office but in general the "white" composite fillings are more expensive then the silver amalgam fillings. I would personally recommend only going with the white ones, no matter who you have fill them. They look so much better and as dental technology gets better, so do this fillings. Yes the white fillings do cost more.

There is some concern about the mercury present in amalgam fillings (silver fillings).

The new generation of white fillings combined with new technology to bond the tooth and better esthetics make white fillings a preferred choice in my office.

please take a few minutes and look at the web site before and after photos.

You need to have white because that is all most dentists do these days for several reasons. They bond the tooth together so that it does not break or fracture as easily as with amalgam. Also they do not stain the teeth dark blue or gray. They are much harder to do than amalgan and take longer too. They cost at least a third more.

Call me if you want to talk further.

there is no such thing as white amalgam fillings.

Amalgam is an amalgamation(mixture of metals) silver and mercury about 50/50 ratio. there are some other metals in there as well. Amalgam is silver in colour and hence is referred to silver fillings.

The other type of fillings commonly used is composite resin which is tooth coloured. these are bonded to the tooth and take much longer to place and require very isolated tooth from saliva and technique sensitive. hence these cost more due to time involved in placement and artistic matching to the anatomy and colour of you own teeth. When done correctly these are far superior fillings to have. In my office i only place composite fillings, i do not offer amalgam.

After i''''m done you will not know your teeth ever had a filling in them.

If you are interested in having my artistic filling in your mouth, you can contact my office for an appointment.
